We collect information you provide when creating your account, including your name, email address, date of birth, and profile photos. We also collect usage data such as interactions with other users and device information.
If you send feedback or a community research note, we collect the message and any reply email you provide. You can also include a community URL in a research note. The community research form requires an email address so we can follow up.
We use your information to run and improve Dayoff, show your profile and posts to other members, send you notifications, and look into reports. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We use community research notes and reply emails to learn what to build and to respond to you. Submitting that form does not add you to a marketing mailing list.
We don't analyze what you write to target ads or to build a profile of you. We don't use your messages, profile, intro, or posts to train AI models, and we don't sell or license them to anyone who does.
We do count things, like how many messages are sent, how quickly people reply, and how many members are in each age group. We use these totals to run and improve Dayoff, and we sometimes publish them in our emails and updates. They never identify you.
Your messages are between you and the person you're talking to. They are encrypted on the way to our servers and stored there, but they are not end-to-end encrypted, so we can technically access them. We only look at a conversation when one of the people in it reports it, when we need to in order to fix a problem, or when the law requires it.
We may share data with trusted service providers who assist in operating the app (e.g. hosting, email delivery, cloud storage). All partners are required to protect your data in accordance with this policy. For the analytics and advertising services we use, and exactly what they receive, see the next section.
On our live website we use three third-party measurement tools:
As with any such tool, these companies also automatically receive your IP address, browser and device information, the address of the page you are viewing (which can include a public profile handle), and identifiers stored in cookies they set. Reddit and Meta may use this for measuring ad performance and for interest-based advertising.
We never send them your name, email address, date of birth, the contents of your messages, or anything you have written in your profile, intro, or posts. We do not sell your personal data.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising directly with each company, which applies across every site that uses their tools — not just ours:
You can also block these tools in your browser by disabling third-party cookies or enabling tracking protection, which most browsers offer.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you by email.
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in Settings. That permanently removes your profile, posts, intro, and messages, including the conversations you were in, which disappear for the other person too. Copies can remain in our backups for a short time afterwards.
We keep feedback and research submissions for review and follow-up. If you delete your account they stay, but they are no longer linked to it. You can ask us to delete a submission by contacting us.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@dayoff.io.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
